POTTY about pottery students have demonstrated flair and creativity in their first exhibition in Wirral.

The Rathbone Studio – operating on the site of the historic Della Robbie premises in Argyle Street, Birkenhead – has been running pottery workshops since May last year.  The course has been so successful  that there is a waiting list for places.

Studio owner Janet Holmes said: "The wonderful motivation for me, after 30 years as a tutor, is seeing students blossom and start producing such amazing pieces.

"The pottery sessions have become a haven for people to escape the pressures of day-to-day life and find such pleasure in creating their own art work.

"I believe we still have a childhood yearning to place our hands into different textures and only ceramics offers this."

The exhibition shows the work of students – some of them complete beginners.

It opens on Friday and visitors are invited to meet students and talk about the work displayed.  Janet will also offer “have a go” sessions.

The exhibition continues from Tuesdays to Saturdays (3pm -6pm) until April 13.
