PLANS for a car part manufacturing plant as part of the Wirral Waters development have been revealed.

The factory, which could see the creation of more than one thousand jobs, was outlined today during a tree-planting ceremony marking the start of work on Peel Group's £4.5bn dockside regeneration scheme.

Wirral Waters will see around 27,000 new jobs created over the next 30 years. During the project, around 35 acres of derelict brownfield land in Birkenhead Docks will be transformed into a site for portside-based business and manufacturing activities.

Richard Mawdsley, of the Peel Group, said: "Wirral Waters is a 'jobs' driven project. It will create new markets in an area of need – one of which focuses on manufacturing.

"Within this sector, there is clearly a need to support the automotive industry in the North West."

The Wirral Waters site will feature the Peel International Trade Centre and benefit from direct dock, rail and motorway access and Enterprise Zone status. It is also one of only six sites in the UK to benefit from generous Enhanced Capital Allowances.

Richard Mawdsley continued: "With the benefits of the ECAs in Wirral Waters, granted under the MerseyWaters EZ, there are significant tax benefits to large occupiers who invest heavily in plant and machinery".

Council leader Phil Davies, said: "Wirral Council is working alongside multi-national companies to develop new opportunities for the region, particularly in terms of manufacturing, making use of Wirral Waters' EZ status.

"This status allows us to offer tax incentives in the first years of occupancy to attract new businesses and create new jobs for the area.

"We have been working closely with private sector partners, responding to their needs to create a supply chain development of national significance."

Are you going to provide incentives for existing business that has been here for years?

Back of the cigarette-packet FUD. "could" but when? Pressed-wheel hub manufacture - low tech business, paying low wages, and will be gone was the financial incentives are gone. Port-side benefits? Port-side is Southampton, Felixstowe, Thames Gateway etc when it comes to export at low cost.

Where are the plans for this so called parts factory?

Are there any plans at all or is it just hot air?

Another teaser from Peel.

Better to open a BullSh*t factory so they can start selling it to Peel by the bucket load.
