THE body of a man has been discovered in the River Mersey today.
Police officers and lifeboat volunteers were called to the scene near Riverview Road, Wallasey at around 10am.
The man, who is in his 50s, was recovered from the water and formal identification is on-going.
Police say the death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination is set to take place.
