Wirral nightclub seeks permission to re-open
A WIRRAL nightclub which was stripped of its licence last year could be set to re-open its doors.
Club Zu in Oliver Street East, Birkenhead, had its premises licence revoked by the borough’s licensing sub-committee.
Merseyside Police ordered a review into the permit and councillors made their decision in May 2012.
But now an application to relaunch will go before the sub-committee next Thursday with a request to open into the early hours, seven days a week.
According to documents, applicants Baden W Limited want permission to open until 2.30am Monday to Thursday, 5.30am from Friday to Saturday and 3.30am on Sundays.
There are also plans to keep the club open until 7am on Bank Holiday Sundays.
However, police have submitted an objection to the application citing “crime and disorder, public safety, prevention of public nuisance and the protection of children from harm.”
Councillors will review the application at Wallasey Town Hall.
