Fallen tree halts West Wirral rail services

Rail services were suspended for around an hour this morning between West Kirby and Hoylake due to a fallen tree on the line.

A train travelling towards West Kirby struck the tree at around 10.40am.

A rail spokesman said there was no danger to passengers but services were suspended while Network Rail removed the tree.

A replacement bus service was arranged to run between the two stations.

Merseyrail says the service has resumed but trains may be subject to delay or cancellation.
