Norvirus causes visiting ban at Arrowe Park Norvirus causes visiting ban at Arrowe Park

VISITORS have been banned from Arrowe Park Hospital to help to stop the spread of winter vomiting bug Norovirus.

Hospital bosses have put the restrictions in place at the main building in a bid to protect patients from a new strain of the bug which is circulating the local area.

However the ban does not apply to the Wirral Women and Children’s Hospital or Clatterbridge Hospital as both are still open to visitors.

A hospital spokesman said visiting will only be allowed in “exceptional circumstances” and is at the discretion of the ward sister or nurse in charge.

The restrictions are being reviewed daily.

Norovirus is a highly infectious virus which causes vomiting and diarrhoea. Other symptoms may include temperature, headache and stomach cramps.
