Police looking for a man who went missing from his Wirral home at the weekend said a body has been found.

John Ankers, 28, was last seen when he left his home on Sandfield Road, Upton, for his job at a branch of Blockbuster in Birkenhead on Sunday morning.

The alarm was raised at 11am today by a member of the public who discovered a body in woodlands close to Arrowe Park Hospital.

Crime scene investigators are at the woodland site.

At this stage there has been no formal identification and detectives are treating the death as unexplained.
