A WIRRAL teenager is recovering in hospital after being stabbed during an incident at a house in Wallasey.

Seven people have been arrested in connection what police have called a "confrontation" at Poulton Road, whoch happened at around 11.40pm on Saturday.

Police found the front door had been forced open by a group of young men and a dispute had taken place inside.

During the incident, a 15-year-old boy was knifed causing severe injuries to his upper body.

He was later found by paramedics outside a takeaway shop in nearby Clarence Street.

His condition is described by the authorities as "serious but not life-threatening."

Four men in their late teens were arrested inside the property on suspicion of wounding.

Three men of a similar age were arrested in a nearby street, also on suspicion of wounding.

Police say they have all have been interviewed and bailed pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Ian Wiggins from Wirral CID said: "The full circumstances of what happened at this house on Saturday night are being pieced together by detectives.

"There were a large number of people at the property who will have been involved, directly or indirectly, and it is important that people come forward and tell us what happened.

“We have already arrested seven people in connection with the stabbing and enquiries are progressing well.

"The young man who has been injured is recovering in hospital and we will be speaking to him as soon as possible.

"The use of violence in our communities will not be tolerated by Merseyside Police and I would urge residents in Poulton Road who saw or heard anything that could help us, to please come forward."
