A WIRRAL councillor has demanded an investigation after she was deselected from her town hall seat.

Councillor Patricia Glasman, who represents New Brighton for Labour, was on a charitable trip in South Africa when she heard of the news.

The New Brighton branch selection meeting had taken place while Cllr Glasman was out of the country and another candidate was chosen.

She said: "I  was aware of a selection meeting taking place and I told them I wouldn’t be back in time for it.

"I had tacked on a holiday to the end of a charitable visit and I found out on January 11 that I had been de-selected.

"I have now lodged a complaint with the Labour party."
