A DRIVER had to be cut from his vehicle after a three-car crash yesterday evening at Eastham.

Firefighters were called to the accident on the A41 New Chester Road at around 5.45pm; appliances from Bromborough and Birkenhead community fire stations were mobilised.

The search and rescue team from Croxteth fire station along with its incident management team were also sent to the scene.

Firefighters removed the driver, aged 29, from his car by cutting off its roof.

The victim was then lifted onto a spinal board and taken by ambulance to the Countess of Chester Hospital suffering a suspected spinal injury.

The occupants of the other two vehicles were uninjured.
