Voters set to head to polls in Wirral by-elections
WIRRAL residents are set to head to the polls next week as two by-elections take place.
Candidates hoping to secure a seat in the town hall will be standing in Leasowe and Moreton East ward and Heswall on Thursday, January 17.
The elections will be held following the deaths of Cllr Anne McArdle and Cllr Peter Johnson.
Among those hoping to win the most votes in Leasowe and Moreton East is local comedienne and actress Pauline Daniels who will represent Labour.
The 57-year-old hopes her "straight-talking" manner will help her to work on issues in the area.
Also hoping to win support from voters will be former ward councillor Ian Lewis, representing Conservatives, who believes his previous experience in the ward will come in handy.
Other candidates include Liberal Democrat Daniel Clein, Trade Unionists and Socialists Against Cuts party candidate Mark Halligan, Jim McGinley from the Green Party and UKIP candidate Susan Whitham.
Heswall candidates include former mayoress Kathryn Hodson for Conservatives, Barbara Burton for the Green Party, Mike Holliday for Labour, Greg North for Trade Unionists and Socialists Against Cuts and David Scott for UKIP.

And here's a Freedom of Informtion request, lodged last year, to watch in the run up to these elections:

Subject: The fee that will be paid into the coffers of Graham "We therefore need to spend less on ourselves in order to help mitigate the impact of the cuts on our most vulnerable residents" Burgess, CEO, for duties, over & above the day-to-day ones, associated with the role of "Returning Officer":
We're watching. Indeed the Information Commissioner are now watching. The big question is... will it be answered within the 20 working days stipulated by the FoI Act?
Their record to date is not one to boast about, indeed some have labelled it 'abysmal'. They have 3 working days left to respond.

Please do not vote for Labour, Conservative, or Liberal Democrats, instead pick a new face, someone who will work on behalf of the population in Wirral and not a Party Political first and foremost.
You can do no better than to pick a rank outsider rather than a Party Political Lackey, at least you send a message to all the Councillors that we the people of Wirral demand some Honesty, Truth, and Open Integrity, from our peoples representatives, and not Party Political Dogma.
Such Party Political Dogma that has led to Scandal, Deceit, abject Mis-Information, Mis-Management, Cruelty, Bullying, Gagging Clauses, Pay Offs, and Disgrace with nothing short of criminal behavior from supposedly responsible people in high places, all condoned and agreed to by so called Peoples Representatives for over 10 years and still not sorted out to this day.
Pick a New Face, at least spreads the trough of plenty into new locations, and that can only be good.
