New minor injury and illness centre opens
3:24pm Friday 4th January 2013 in News
A new minor injury and illness centre has opened in Wirral as a one-year pilot scheme.
From Monday, patients will be able to access the new service at Moreton Health Clinic in Chadwick Street.
The service is open to all Wirral people and no appointment is necessary.
Dr Hannah McKay, clinical lead for unplanned care for Wirral GP Commissioning Consortium, said a minor illness can be anything from a sore throat or insect bites.
Minor injuries may also been seen but patients need to be aware these centres do not have onsite X-ray facilities.
Dr McKay said: “We believe that this will provide more choice and better access for people who need treatment for minor illnesses and simple injuries, and further reduce the need for people to attend the Accident and Emergency department at Arrowe Park Hospital.”
Opening hours will be 12pm to 7pm, Monday and Tuesday; 12pm to 8pm Wednesday and Thursday; and 10am to 6pm Friday. Patients should try to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing time.
