The Four Bridges route across Tower Road, Birkenhead, will re-open tomorrow following the conclusion of major maintenance work which began in August.
The road is likely to re-open late afternoon following work to repair main bridge structures and apply new protective paint.
Wirral Council has released a statement saying it "would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused while the work has been taking place, and thank motorists, local businesses and commuters for their patience."
The road will be fully open by 4pm in time for evening peak-time traffic.
Councillor Harry Smith, Wirral's cabinet member for Streetscene and transport, said: "We are very pleased to be re-opening this very important route on schedule, and would like to thank everyone for their patience while the work has been taking place."
