A MUM-TO-BE has scooped a prestigious award for her work with other expectant parents in Wirral.

Lauren Irving, who works at One to One Midwives throughout the borough, won the regional ‘Johnson’s Baby Mums Midwife of the Year’ award from the Royal College of Midwives.

She was voted for by mums from across the borough who believed she was a “very special person” who gives them vital support.

Lauren, who is due to give birth in March, will now compete to crown the national award in London early next year.

The 31-year-old said: “I can’t believe I’ve won this award - I’m overwhelmed! Being able to support a woman throughout her whole pregnancy helps me to build up really good and trusting relationship and I love this aspect of my job.

“The award shows that many mums across the Wirral are now aware of this quality service which is available to NHS patients. Our midwives are finding new mums prefer receiving midwifery care at home as it really fits in with their busy lifestyles.”

Joanne Parkington, clinical director for ‘One to One’ midwives in Wirral, added: “This is an excellent achievement by Lauren. It’s a very prestigious award given by The Royal College of Midwives.

"More than 1,000 mums across Wirral have now experienced the high standards and quality of care provided by our dedicated and committed team of midwives.”
