Huddersfield . . . 16pts Birkenhead Park . . . 13pts
HUDDERSFIELD deserved this victory over Birkenhead Park in a drab North One League encounter by virtue of scoring the only try of the game through prop Neil Pollock.
A combination of indiscipline and baffling refereeing saw Park play much of the game with 14 men as three players spent time in the sin bin.
Park's best period was the opening quarter. Stand-off Dave Hall opened the scoring with a 35 metre penalty after 22 minutes, but that was to prove the only Park score of an eminently forgettable game.
Huddersfield responded with Pollock's try from short range and Chris Thompson converted and then added a penalty after Paul Hellier offended.
Johnson added two more penalty kicks.
This Saturday, Park will need to improve as they welcome Hull to the Upper Park (kick-off 2.15pm.
