MERSEYSIDE Probation Trust has become the first public sector agency to win the British Quality Foundation's UK Recognised for Excellence Award.
HRH The Princess Royal, the Foundation's patron presented the award to Anne Pakula, the Trust's head of operations at a prestigious ceremony at the Intercontinental Hotel in Park Lane.
Chief Executive Officer of Merseyside Probation Trust, Annette Hennessy said: "This has been a fantastic night for ourselves, Probation and Merseyside.
"I am so incredibly proud of the Trust, our staff, and their passion and hard work, without which this would never have happened. Well done to everyone involved."
Anne Pakula said: "The UK Excellence Award is one of the highest accolades any organisation in the UK can achieve - it recognises organisations which have demonstrated excellence in all areas of operation.
"To have won therefore is a tremendous accolade for the Trust, and will spur us on to continue to improve and achieve excellence in our work.
"It is undoubtably a tribute to the staff at the Trust who have demonstrated such passion and commitment to their work."
The Trust was up against stiff competition to win the awards, with other strong contenders including Northern Rail and Interserve Construction Ltd. Previous winners have included Siemens and Ricoh.
