Rockers Fugitive pay homage
 |
| DOWN TO EARTH: Wirral rock band Fugitive. Left to right are Wils, Paul Tee, Mikee and Ranko |
FUGITIVE will be on stage at Birkenhead's Hotel California later this month to celebrate the internet release of their new album.
The Wirral rockers' album In Transit went live two weeks ago and their hometown gig will be on Saturday, May 24.
Looking ahead, the band's vocalist and guitarist Mikee said: "We've chosen to create a set of songs from bands that have influenced us and our sound over the years, that obviously complement our own original songs. Bands like Black Sabbath, Skin, Van Halen, Cinderella, Iron Maiden, Kiss, Ozzy . . . the list goes on.
"We are a very down to earth band and even though we're getting this success now, we realise it's still early days and people will not know our stuff that well yet, so to keep the show interesting for all, right through to the end, we decided to make a point of recognising our influences this way and include songs that are well known.
"Once people hear our own stuff we know they'll come back for more. We've got our feet firmly on the ground but would be lying if we said we aren't really excited about all this. It's been a long time coming and we've named the album in honour of the many thousands of miles we've done since 1990 in the back of a Transit Van!"
The album will be available to buy at their Hotel California show and can also be downloaded from sites such as iTunes and on mail order from the band's label, Cat Records, own web shop.
Information on the band and shop can be found at www.fugitiveweb.co.uk or at www.myspace.com/catrecordsworld
The band continues to attract interest from the music industry, with rave reviews appearing in some of the specialist rock magazines, while international rock internet radio stations are picking up the album all over the world.
"We've heard radio shows from as far away as Mississippi, USA, playing our stuff!" said Mikee.
