Night of alternative comedy . . . and we've two pairs of tickets to be won
 |
| STAND-UP COMIC: Jo Caulfield |
FOUR of the biggest names in alternative comedy are coming to Wirral later this month.
Jo Caulfield is among those taking to the stage at Pacific Road Arts Centre, Woodside, as part of The Comedy Shop on Tour on Tuesday, May 20 - and the Globe has tickets to be won. More about that later . . .
Best known for her one-woman shows, former waitress Jo is one of the UK's most popular masters of myrth and writes jokes for Graham Norton's BBC television show.
Joining the Welsh comedienne for the 17-date tour are Liverpool-born comic, actor and compere Brendan Riley, who has also appeared in Coronation Street and Hollyoaks and produced a series of spoof and serious documentaries.
Also attempting to tickle your funny bone will be Phil Walker - described as the comedian for all occasions - and surrealist Manuel Martinez, said to be Cuba's second biggest export, after the cigars.
With his ridiculous mispronunciation of English, Manuel's comedy is reminiscent of Peter Sellers as Inspector Clouseau in the Pink Panther movies.
The May 20 show starts at 8pm and the Globe has two pairs of tickets to be won in a simple-to-enter contest.
For a chance of getting your hands on one of them, answer the following question correctly:-
Jo Caulfield will be coming to Pacific Road Arts Centre on which date?
It couldn't be easier to enter. Simply call 0901 221 0236 and leave your answer to the question, along with your name, address and daytime telephone number, when prompted. Calls cost only 25p - less than the cost of a first class stamp! Calls from mobiles may cost more.
Lines close at 5pm next Tuesday (May 13). Service provided by Newsquest Media Group.
Alternatively, you can enter by post. Send the answer, together with your name, address and daytime contact phone number, to: Comedy Club Contest, Wirral Globe, Haymarket Court, Hinson Street, Birkenhead CH41 5BX.
Postal entries must be received by 5pm next Tuesday (May 13). Senders of the first two correct entries selected at random will each receive one pair of tickets for the Pacific Road Arts Centre show on May 20. Good luck!
The comedy shop tour is part of Pacific Road's current season, which includes a performance by former X-Factor finalists Journey South promoting their second album on Sunday, June 15.
Although they narrowly missed winning the competition in 2005, Middlesborough-born brothers Andy and Carl Pemberton were snapped up by Simon Cowell and signed to BMG.
Soon after, they released their platinum-selling self-titled debut album and entered the UK Charts at number one.
Their second album - Home - was released in October and they are currenty on their Home 2008' tour.
Tickets for the boys' Pacific Road date, and other shows in the current programme, can be obtained by calling 647-0752 or online at: pacificroad.co.uk
