Blues rock legend returns . . . and you can be at the concert as a winner of our easy-to-enter contest
STORYTELLER Gervase Phinn
STORYTELLER Gervase Phinn

BRITISH blues rock legend Robin Trower and his band are coming to Wirral next month as part of an extensive UK tour.

With an extensive repertoire of classic hits and album-oriented rock to his credit, Robin - he returns to Pacific Road Arts Centre, Woodside, Birkenhead, on Friday, May 30 - is one of the very few '60s and '70s guitar heroes keeping this type of music alive today.

From his early days in the Paramounts and Procul Harum, Robin went on to build a major career in America, with several US chart albums, including Bridge of Sighs. Don't miss the opporunity to see this unique power blues-rock band in Europe.

Robin still entertains fans with memorable songs, such as Day Dream, I Can't Wait Much Longer, Too Rolling Stoned and with new material that becomes as enduring as the others.

Supporting him throughout the tour is rising British blues star Aynsley Lister, one of a few artists playing rocking blues with a modern edge.

Robin is just part of Pacific Road's current season, which includes a night of tales from Gervase Phinn this Tuesday (May 6).

Dubbed the James Herriot of Schools, the former English teacher's warm-hearted reminiscences about the life of a school inspector in the Yorkshire Dales became instant best sellers and proved highly popular on Radio 4's Book of the Week and Book at Bedtime programmes.

He has made numerous television and radio appearances and written a range of academic books, as well as children's poetry and fiction.

A natural storyteller, he combines the timing of the professional comedian with warmth and the ability to deliver a message. His humour is described as gentle, warm and wry.

Tickets for all shows can be obtained from the box office on 647-0752 or on-line at www.pacificroad.co.uk The Globe has two pairs of tickets to see Robin Trower at Pacific Road on May 30 - and they could be yours if you can complete correctly the name of this band: . . . . . . . . rum.

I would think that with the headline Robin Trower, the picture would be his as well. It would certainly draw attention to the article and the contest to those most interested.

Sounds like a great contest, I'm going to tell my friends in the UK about it.
As for The Robin Trower Band, they just finished touring the US and by all accounts, it was AWESOME. They sold out nearly every gig, all reviews said Robin is playing better than he ever has, and the current
lineup of Davey Pattison, Glen Letsch, and Pete Thompson is tight and in the groove. I went to 5 RTB concerts this year, everyone of them was over the top!

Hang on tight, it's a great ride!
