| FULL SONG: Members of West Kirby Light Opera Society |
WEST Kirby Light Opera Society presents the first of its two shows celebrating Liverpool's Capital of Culture status next month.
The Globe has tickets to give away for the opening night of An Evening with Rodgers & Hammerstein - a gala concert featuring solos, duets and four-part choral arrangements of numbers from The Sound of Music, The King and I, Oklahoma, Carousel, South Pacific and State Fair - which will be staged by the society at the Gladstone Theatre, Greendale Road, Port Sunlight, from Wednesday May 7 -10. More about that later . . .
A stage ensemble of 50 performers, supported by a full orchestra under the musical direction of Robert Bowness, promises you a sparkling evening of musical entertainment.
The opening performance on May 7 will be compèred by Birkenhead-based actress, comedienne and Gladstone Theatre veteran Pauline Daniels.
Performances start at 7.30pm and tickets are available from342-2143, the theatre box office on 643-8757 or the usual theatre ticket outlets.
The society returns to the Gladstone Theatre in September with its production of Oh What a Lovely War! chronicling the First World War through songs and documents of the period. This rarely-performed musical entertainment coincides with the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War.
The production will be directed by Nick Sample and musically directed by Robert Bowness. For further details of WKLOS's programme of events log onto: www.wklos.org.uk

Lines close at 5pm next Wednesday (April 30). Service provided by Newsquest Media Group.
Alternatively, send the answer, together with your name, address and daytime contact phone number, to: West Kirby Light Opera Show Contest, Wirral Globe, Haymarket Court, Hinson Street, Birkenhead CH41 5BX.
