The Stones' Show promises not to take the Mick

A TRIBUTE to the music of legendary British rock and roll band the Rolling Stones will be staged at the Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight this weekend.

The Stones' Show - at the Greendale Road venue this Saturday, February 13, promises all the energy and excitement of a live Rolling Stones concert. The performance starts at 7.30pm.

Their repertoire includes some of the group's biggest hits such as Satisfaction, Start Me Up and Jumping Jack Flash to name but a few.

Stepping into lead singer Mick Jagger's shoes for the show is Ben Wattam.

Not only does he look like Mick Jagger – but his performance is regarded as genuinely startling.

Looking forward to Saturday's show, Ben told the Globe: "You can expect all the Rollin' Stones hits on the night. The music is going to be as near as possible to the original songs.

"I've been in the band for aout 18 months and what sets us apart from other tribute bands is that we don't take the mick, no pun intended.

"I'm only 30 years old, but grew up listening to their music and am a huge fan."

Ben, whose great-grandfather worked at Lever Brothers factory in Port Sunlight, comes from Eckington in Derbyshire, which is where Mick Jagger’s grandmother was from.

As critical as the role of Mick Jagger is, he cannot do it alone, and the rest of the band do an amazing job of recreating the unique sound of The Rolling Stones.

The show is part of the Gladstone Theatre's spring and summer programme, which continues this Friday, February 12, with a talk by Tom Owen about his late father, Last Of The Summer Wine star Bill.

Bebington Dramatic Society presents John Mortimer's comedy, A Voyage Round My Father, from February 24-27.

The Port Sunlight Players present their production of Julian Woolford and Elizabeth Nesbitt's The Railway Children from March 11-13.

Rock Ferry Amateur Operatic Society will take you back to 19th Century London with their production of Lionel Bart's classic Oliver from March 17-20.

Tickets for all shows are available from the box office on 643 8757 or www.gladstonetheatre.org.uk
