BUDGET airline Ryanair is launching two new routes to Barcelona and Almeria in Spain from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.

The expansion has been welcomed by the airport, where many Halton residents are employed.

Robin Tudor, head of PR for Peel Airports said: “These are two great new destinations that will further complement Ryanair’s comprehensive list of routes from Liverpool.

“This remains their second largest UK base, with 40 destinations available from here and we expect these two new routes to prove popular with passengers across the region.”

Seats are now on sale.

Flights begin on March 25, with fares starting at £29.99 one way.

Ryanair’s Maria Macken said: “Any development at the airport is a positive sign of our commitment.

“It will give passengers even more choice when booking their summer getaway.”

Barcelona flights will run daily and Almeria twice a week.

To celebrate these new routes, Ryanair is releasing one million seats from £9.99 for travel across Europe in mid February and March.
