Kate Hudson thanked her mum Goldie Hawn for her inspiration as she picked up a Glamour Award.
The actress collected an award from Sir Philip Green for Entrepreneur of the Year after founding an online clothing company, Fabletics, last year.
Hudson said: “I grew up with an incredibly ambitious mother, but her ambition was for a greater purpose. In true Goldie form she was doing it for all women.
“We are all here together and we need to support each other, we need to create a support system. We are more powerful together.”
The ceremony was hosted by Claudia Winkleman, who opened the show by saying: “You are the very best at what you do – they’ve had over a half a million votes. I am not glamorous but I have good news: I have some very glamorous friends.”
Caitlin Moran was presented her Columnist of the Year award by Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams and Iwan Rheon.
She said: “I am fan girl freaking out here.”
Jennifer Saunders presented Trailblazer award to Amy Schumer. She joked about being nervous said how her daughter had alerted her to Schumer’s comedic talents.
Schumer said: “I’m not nervous, I don’t live here… Thank you, Glamour has given me a voice. I’m not going to apologise for who I am. I make fun of women’s magazines a lot.”
The best Theatre actress award went to Gillian Anderson for her part in A Streetcar Named Desire.
Gillian Anderson said: “I had to take my entire dress off to pee this evening. Thank you Glamour – it’s been an extraordinary year. I got to play a character I’ve wanted to play for 30 years.”
Anderson announced the play would also be going to New York.
Man of the Year was presented by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley to DJ Calvin Harris.
Harris said: “My mum is going to be so impressed – I’ve never been to anything like this in my life. I feel like I should make the worst speech of the night, being the sole male speech.”
