Nicki Minaj has revealed she made a “terrible mistake” when she made the decision to abort her first child.
The Anaconda rapper was 15 when she found out she was pregnant with her then boyfriend Aaron’s baby, but she terminated the pregnancy so she could focus on her career.
“My child with Aaron would’ve been 16 any minute,” she said in MTV documentary My Time Again, adding that the child would have been named Caiah.
“We made a terrible mistake. We had to pay for it. I always felt like my destiny was to be accomplished in my career first,” she added.
Nicki, who has split from long-time boyfriend Safaree Samuels, said motherhood is something she now wants but, “won’t be doing it right now, that’s for sure.”
The Pinkprint singer continued: “I think four years from now is the time to have a child, I would have to be married first. I think there is a housewife somewhere in here.
“I don’t know if the secret to life is to find love, but I think the secret is to embody love.”
She added that she is no longer putting her “career over the ones that I love.”
