BILLY Ocean returns to the Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton later this week.

The Grammy-award winning singer - whose many hits include Love Really Hurts Without You, Red Light Spells Danger, Caribbean Queen and When The Going Gets Tough (The Tough Get Going) - will be at the seaside venue on Friday, May 9, as part of his current tour.

The Trinidad-born star made his debut at the Floral Pavilion three years ago, and has returned many times since.

He told the Globe: "It is always nice when someone had so much fun that they want you to play at the venue again."

In a career spanning three decades Billy, has sold 30m records and collected a pile of Gold and Platinum disc.

He has hit the number one spot on charts including USA, Australia, Germany, Holland, and the UK.

His love of soul singers like Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, The Beatles and the Rolling Stones, lead him to spend much of his study time in the music room.

Looking back on his career the 64-year-old said: "No-one can ever really know how long they will be around when they start out. I am blessed that I am here and still able to do what I love.

"I don’t really think that I have any particular secret but I think having a good team around you is extremely important.

"You need to have someone with good business sense to guide your career so you can focus on the music."

Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm, are available from the Floral Pavilion box office by telephoning 666 0000.
