ESTABLISHED in 1981 the Russian State Ballet of Siberia has been enchanting viewers across the Globe, becoming a leading light in the industry.

Wednesday’s matinee performance at Liverpool’s Empire Theatre delighted all - the delicate interchanging footwork gliding across the stage offered fantastic strides of beauty.

The Tchaikovsky classic was performed effortlessly by both the ballet stars and Orchestra, who’s conductor Anatoliy Chepurnoy was respected by both cast and his team and provided a joyful side to the performance.

Act one, Prince Siegfried played by Georgiy Bolsunovskiy celebrated his birthday gleefully with a few drinks before his mother, the Queen – Vera Surovtseva, tells him that he must marry.

After falling in love with the swan queen Odette, the Prince can’t stay away but under the watchful eye of baddie, Von Rothbart played by Egor Osokin, keeping his true love will never be easy.

An awe-dropping performance from Anna Fedosova as Odette and Odile, the temptress changes into a black tulle to seduce the Prince – placing him under her enchanting spell and spinning with such precision the audience can’t help but give a standing ovation.

Taking on the dual role as both the swan queen and her nemeses, Anna provides an emotional journey through dance and happens to be the show’s most unmissable technical challenge.

Swan Lake is very much open to interpretation – throughout the ages many directors have changed the ending to suit the audience’s needs however in this fateful portrayal the Prince’s will to sacrifice his life for Odette is mesmerising.

With boo’s the evil socerer Von Rothbart is shunned from the Empire.

From January 31 to February 26, the ballet is completing a national tour of the UK – certainly not to be missed.
