Those looking for a little relaxation and tranquility are invited to enjoy Tai Chi sessions in a rather unusual setting.

The National Trust is hosting the exercise classes in the beautiful surroundings of the walled garden at Cheshire's Hare Hill.

The Tai Chi sessions will be given by Xianglin Li, a Tai Chi tutor who trained in China and already runs several successful Tai Chi classes for Age UK Cheshire East.

The sessions are suitable for everyone ranging from absolute beginners to those who have experienced Tai Chi before.

Emma Hill, head gardener at Hare Hill, said: “This is a magical place and we are lucky to have an expert tutor to run the Tai Chi classes here in the peace of the walled garden.

"The fresh air and birdsong enhances the experience – it’s not to be missed!”

Vicky Clarke from Age UK Cheshire East added: “Tai Chi is a system of slow controlled movements that improve your balance, flexibility, strength and coordination.

"This gentle exercise, which is suitable for all ages, also aids relaxation and keeps the mind calm and focused. “Hare Hill’s walled garden provides a delightfully tranquil environment which is ideally suited to Tai Chi. Participants will be able to extend their feeling of wellbeing by exploring the garden and surrounding woodland.”
