A FOUNDER member of '80s British funk and soul band Imagination is bringing a new line-up to Wirral next month as part of a UK tour.
Drummer Errol kennedy reformed the band last year and their show, at the Floral Pavilion Theatre in New Brighton on Sunday February 28, will feature their greatest hits and new material.
Imagination originally formed in 1980 and also featured Leee John and Ashley Ingram.
Their many hits included Body Talk, Just An Illusion, and Changes.
Looking forward to going back on tour, but this time without Leee and Ashley, Errol told the Globe: "I'm really excited to going back on the road, but it's been two decades too long.
"It's more than 20 years since we broke up, but our music has been used on films and when I hear our music covered by people like Mariah Carey it made me realise how popular we still are.
"I just wanted to get back on stage to sing. This is, if you like, my recollection tour.
"The music will be sexy, sensual and I want people to get up enjoy themselves and forget about the stresses of their day. I love to make the audience dance and be happy, that's the only reason I'm doing it.
"I've been trying for years to get Leee and Ashley to reform the group, but they are busy with other projects. So, I decided to recruit some new members and go back on the road. There are going to be some special moments too. For example, there's a latino version of Just An Illusion."
Imagination’s first uk hit single, Body Talk spent 18 weeks in the uk singles chart when it was released in May 1981. It became the title of the group's platinum-selling debut album. It was followed by two other chart topping singles, In and out of love and Flashback.
It was followed by the release of what became their signature hit, Just an illusion, which was taken from their second album, In the heat of the night.
Unlike most drummers, Errol took a central role in the band. He sang, danced and co-wrote some of their greatest hits, and became one of the most photographed members of imagination.
And he has no intention of joining the long list of public figures who have appeared on reality television shows like I'm A Celebrity... or Big Brother.
He said "I've been asked that question before, but somebody would really have to twist my arm. I'm a really private person, so wouldn't really suit Big Brother."
Tickets for the show, which starts at 7.30pm are from the box office on 666 0000. The Globe has two pairs to give away. For a chance of winning, simply answer the following question: What was the name of Imagination's debut album?
Send the answer to: Imagination, Wirral Globe, Haymarket Court, Hinson Street, Birkenhead CH41 5BX.
The deadline for entries is 5pm on Tuesday, February 9.
