WIRRAL musician Dean Johnson is looking for budding songwriters to take part in a special series of workshops next month.
The 'Happy Hearts' events - so called because they will be held during the week leading up to Valentine's Day - are designed to help local residents showcase their skills.
Organised by the Birkenhead-based community action group the Cascade Project, the free workshops will take place at the following venues:
Monday, February 8: The Allandale, Oakdale Road, Seacombe from 10am–1pm.
Tuesday, February 9: Beechwood Community Trust between 10am–1pm.
Wednesday, February 10: Woodchurch Methodist Centre, Pemberton Road, Woodchurch from 1pm–4pm.
Thursday, February 11: Leasowe Learning and Wellbeing Centre in the Millennium Centre, Leasowe between 10am–2pm.
Friday, February 12: The Cherry Tree Centre in Liscard from 11am–3pm.
Oxton-based Dean, who has been in the music business for 25 years, said: "These workshops will be a brilliant opportunity for me to work with people who have that raw desire to express themselves through song.
"There is so much talent out there. People have fallen into the trap of covering other people's work but these workshops will help release the hidden songwriter that's eager to get out.
"You don't have to be a musician to take part, just a desire to put your feelings into words."
Dean has worked with some of the top names in the industry.
His songs have been broadcast on national radio and television. His live performances have taken him from the Wirral folkscene to the Royal Albert Hall.
He recently found himself the subject of tabloid articles, hundreds of online postings and message boards after being asked to complete the lost lyrics of a song by late Beatle George Harrison lyric.
