THE Houghton Weavers will be hoping to spread a little Christmas cheer when they return to The Gladstone Theatre in Port Sunlight later this month.
The Lancashire-based folk group will make their 23rd appearance at the venue in Greendale Road, Port Sunlight on December 29.
They promise a family show packed with songs, humour and festive frolics.
Featuring front man Tony Berry, multi-instrumentalist Dave Littler, guitarist Jeff Hill and keyboard player Steve Millington, the band formed more than 30 years ago and keep audiences entertained with humour and anecdotes and sing popular folk songs from the raucous traditional songs to beautiful ballads done in their own inimitable style.
They have recorded 12 radio and TV shows and are due to release their 27th album.
Tony Berry told the Globe: "It's, basically, our normal show with added tinsel. After the build-up to Christmas People always want somewhere to go after the day itself, because it seems to go a bit flat between Christmas and New Year.
"We always have a fabulous night at the Gladstone. They are great crowd there and a fantastic night is usually had by all, both backstage and in the audience.
As well as touring, the boys are releasing album called Ae Fond Kiss, which features a number of Scottish folk songs.
Tony said: "What we've tended to do in the past when making a new album is just go for recording a lot of songs that we like.
"This time, however, we have gone for a theme and there are a lot of ballads on the album. It's something a bit different which, hopefully, our fans will like."
Tickets for their December 29 show are from the Gladstone Theatre box office on: 0151 643 8757.
The Globe has one pair of tickets to give away.
