OXTON-based singer/songwriter Dean Johnson is preparing to play some local gigs in very illustrious company.
His current tour, supporting guitar legend Albert Lee, regarded by Eric Clapton as the greatest guitarist in the world, comes to Liverpool's Baby Blue Lounge on June 9.
There is a chance to see him before then when he appears at the Bluecoat in Liverpool on Friday, May 22 as special guest of American folk icon Carolyn Hester.
Carolyn was at the front of the folk revival in the 1960s and is most famous for introducing to the world, Bob Dylan.
Dean told the Globe: "I've been busy on the road, excited about the local shows and don't get a chance to play here often.
"My show with Carolyn is part of the Liverpool Sound City Festival.
"Carolyn was at the vangaurd of the original folk movement in the early 1960s and responsible for the alerting the world to the talents of Bob Dylan.
"He played harmonica on her first album,it was his debut recording session"
