Graduates in Cheshire and Merseyside who are looking to pursue a career in teaching now have a new route into this exciting profession thanks to the recently launched School Direct teacher training programme. Places still remain for teacher training starting in September across a range of subjects and across secondary, primary and specialist schools.
A practical and hands on route into teaching School Direct teacher training is a school-led programme. That means successful candidates get to learn on the job whilst receiving mentoring and support from experienced teachers. Trainee teachers are usually placed into two schools and, as well as getting practical experience, will also study at a University affiliated to the schools direct programme.
Weatherhead Teaching School Alliance, based in Wirral ,are one such organisation specialising in School Direct teacher training. They have a number of places still available for budding teachers across a range of disciplines for a September 2015 start. Openings exist for a number trainee teacher jobs across disciplines such as Chemistry, Computer Science, Design & technology, Geography, Maths, Modern Foreign Languages, PE, and Physics.

A relatively new option for those seeking a career in teaching, School Direct teacher training is a school-led option that offers practical, hands-on training and education based in good schools. School Direct trainee teachers are part of a team from the very start, receiving intensive support from experienced teachers and mentors. Trainees also gain Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) through theoretical input from Liverpool John Moores University.
