THE promenade at Parkgate in Wirral has got its landmark back.

For years the distinctive black and white frontage of Mostyn House School has been shrouded in scaffolding, its safety uncertain.

But now, thanks to clever construction and painstaking repair work, the facade has been repaired, the scaffolding has gone and it is once again pride of place in the area.

It is also a symbol of a new beginning for the whole building, which is being converted into apartments by respected conservation developer the PJ Livesey Group.

The Manchester-based specialist bought the Grade Two listed site from the Grenfell family in 2013 and since then has been working to restore its fabric and transform the interiors into some of the most spectacular new homes available in Wirral.

PJ Livesey director Georgina Livesey said: “We have 35 years’ experience in restoring and converting listed buildings, and Mostyn House School has probably been one of the most challenging – but also the most rewarding.

“Our teams have been working hard to bring the building back into use, and the restoration of the facade and the removal of the scaffolding was the most obvious outward sign of the progress of the work to date.

“It was a milestone for us and for the whole Parkgate area.”

The development of the site has been in three sections.

The first saw the construction of 47 detached family homes and a row of mews properties, built by PJ Livesey’s new build division, all sensitively designed to fit in with the heritage site.

The final two newly built homes have now been released.

At the same time, the PJ Livesey conversion division concentrated on the restoration of the buildings facing the promenade and their conversion into 20 very individual apartments and penthouses, all of which have already been purchased.

The second phase of converted properties is about to be launched, and again interest is high, much from local people who love the building and welcome the opportunity to live within such a historic setting.

Properties in this phase include penthouses with vast open terraces, garden apartments with private green spaces and sophisticated two bedroom apartments offering beautiful, bright and spacious rooms and a real sense of luxury.

It will also see the conversion of the Tower into one stunning four bedroom property with its own viewing gallery, offering stunning 360-degree views over the entire estuary.

Craig Lynch, sales and marketing director with the PJ Livesey Group, said: “The interest in Mostyn has been phenomenal, and the reaction from buyers when they see what we are delivering here is very rewarding.

“We combine the heritage of the building with the most contemporary of interiors – and we do it without compromise!

“The company’s aim is to not only provide luxury homes of great space and character but to leave a lasting legacy for the area.

“Buyers know that each property here is unique and there is just one chance to buy.

“There will never by another Mostyn Place – and we have already seen values increase!”

The second phase of just conversion properties is now available to preview and special VIP viewings of the show home will be arranged in March for people who have registered their interest.

The beautifully converted one, two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses are priced from £179,950 to £649,950, while the final two four bedroom newly built homes are available from £439,950.
