Wirral Globe: Golden Globes banner

It's time to nominate your unsung hero for Wirral Globe Inspiration Awards 2015.

Do you know someone who goes the extra mile for others?

Maybe they’re a neighbour who goes out of their way to make your life a little easier, or perhaps a young hero who shows courage or bravery.

They might be the best mum or dad, despite setbacks or adversity, or maybe they have made a real difference to their local community?

No matter what the reason, we want you to nominate your community champions. Tears and laughter are sure to be shared when we celebrate the borough’s unsung heroes at our annual awards ceremony.

Wirral Globe Inspiration Awards 2015 - now in their fourth year - are a chance to heap praise on those who make a difference and recognise their efforts.

The glittering awards ceremony, which takes place on Wednesday, December 9 at Thornton Hall, is a chance to celebrate the achievements of our community champions in Wirral and we need you to help us find them.

Details of what to do are at the end of the eight categories.

Young Hero of the Year

Young people often get a bad reputation by association, when in fact there are some great stories out there about ordinary young people doing extraordinary things. They may have given their time to a good cause, overcome adversity in extreme circumstances or excelled in a particular challenge that has helped others. If you recognise a young hero in your community, we want to hear about them.

Contribution to the Community

Sponsored by Sue Porter Independent Funeral Directors

Is there someone you know locally who is considered to be a pillar of the community? They may have given their time and effort on a voluntary basis, organised events/fetes for the good of the local residents or simply displayed tremendous compassion and loyalty to their friends and neighbours? If you recognise this as someone in your local community and would like to see them receive their just reward, then send in your nomination and tell us why.

Neighbour of the Year

Do you have an experience neighbour in your community who is always there to lend a hand? If you know someone who has perhaps displayed an act of generosity, cared for an elderly neighbour, prevented a crime or simply they can always be relied upon as a pillar of the local community - let us know why.

Friend of the Year

Have you got the best friend in the world? Are they always there to pick you up when you’re down or in need of a helping hand? Have they made you laugh until you cried? If you have a friend who you feel deserves recognition, let us know why.

Parent of the Year

Sponsored by Birkenhead Market

Does your mum or dad qualify to be our parent of the year? They may have shown incredible courage that has helped enhance your life or the lives of others, overcome times of hardship during illness, poverty or bereavement or offered outstanding parental guidance either within or outside the family unit that deserves special recognition.

Outstanding Bravery

Sponsored by Wilsons Flooring

Most of us will know someone who inspires us with their bravery. It could be someone who has overcome illness and risked it all to help those around them, or maybe stood up for what they believe in despite adversity?

Local Sportsperson of the Year

When people think of sporting excellence it sums up images of achievement, positivity, healthy living, keeping active and commitment. Wirral Globe Inspiration Awards recognises these individual sports people who have achieved something special or contributed to the local sporting community.

Student of the Year

Sponsored by Wirral Met College

Do you know someone in your school or college who deserves some recognition? Maybe they're achieving great things even though the cards are stacked against them. Or perhaps they're just a friendly, helpful and engaging character who's a credit to the organisation. Let us know and they could be a Wirral Globe Inspiration Award winner.
