Time for a lie-in at last!

AFTER 35 years of very early mornings Moreton-based milkman Bill Davies is hanging up his hat to become a minibus driver for Hoylake Cottage Hospital.
Bill, 55, has delivered milk, yoghurt and cheese to residents in Seacombe in all weathers since he was 20 years old.
"I was getting a bit cheesed off with getting up just after one o’clock every morning."

But because of a fall in milk sales and the fact that he has had to get up at one o'clock every morning to prepare for his round, he has decided to call it a day.
On Saturday he will leave the wheel of his milk float behind for good and start work as a full-time mini-bus driver on Monday morning.
His brother Bob, also a milkman, will take over the round.
Seacombe-born Bill, currently working for Dairy Crest in Saughall Massie, told the Globe: "I've been a milkman for 35 years and have really loved the job.
"But there are many reasons why I have decided to give up and I'll be sad to go.
"The first is the decline in milk sales and I was getting a bit cheesed off with getting up just after one o'clock every morning.
"So when the offer of a job came up at Hoylake Cottage I decided to go for it.
"I'm going to miss the round and the people, but it'll be good to have a day job. "
A spokesman for Dairy Crest told the Globe: "Bill's served the Seacombe area for a long time and we've never had any problems with him.
"He is a respected member of staff and will be missed."

In response to the article regarding our Dad Bill Davies' retirement from being a milkman for 35 years (26.03.08), his family would like to thank his business and residential customers for their support over the last 35 years. It was a business customer that made contact with the Wirral Globe and acknowledged the service our Dad has provided to houses and offices in the Seacombe area.
