Lee Mead, who won the heart of the nation as the winner of the hit BBC show Any Dream Will Do, makes his drama debut, starring in Bill Kenwright’s production of Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime. Lee joins an all-star cast for the tour, including legendary entertainer Gary Wilmot, the glamorous Kate O’Mara, David Ross and Derren Nesbitt. We have teamed up with the Palace Theatre to promote their competition to offer three lucky readers the chance to win a pair of tickets to the show at the 7.30pm performance at the Palace Theatre, Manchester on Monday 8th March 2010.
Lee was ‘the peoples’ Joseph’ in the West End musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, playing to packed houses and critical acclaim from 2007 until early 2009, as well as releasing his debut solo album, which sold almost 200,000 copies.
Lord Arthur Savile is deliriously happy; a pillar of Victorian society on the verge of marriage to the lovely Sybil Merton, when a brief departure from late 19th Century convention leads him to an encounter with a chilling clairvoyance called Podgers. Podgers secretly reveals that at some point in Arthur’s life, he is destined to commit murder. To protect his future wife, Arthur decides he must do the bloody deed before he marries. As he searches for the most convenient person to sacrifice, chaos ensures in this highly entertaining comedy of upper-class morality.
