POLICE asked the public to avoid the Old Hakin Road following a crash on Tuesday evening.

The junction where the Old Hakin Road meets the Dale Road is currently cordoned off by police after a motorbike collided with a tractor.

Two Wales Air Ambulance helicopters were used to fly the motorcyclist and passenger out of the area as the crash was reported to be very severe.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: "Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a road traffic collision between a motorbike and a tractor on Old Hakin Road, near Murco, Milford Haven.

"The collision happened shortly before 6.35pm this evening. The road is currently closed while collision investigation takes place, and is expected to remain closed for some time.

"The motorbike had been travelling from the Tiers Cross direction. The rider and pillion have been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

"Officers are appealing for any information which could help the investigation. Anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the vehicles beforehand, is urged to contact Pembrokeshire Roads Policing Unit by calling 101.

According to the Western Telegraph's automated traffic report the road is completely blocked.

The report adds: "All emergency services are at the scene assisting. Affecting traffic heading between Milford Haven and Herbrandston."

The local neighbourhood policing team as also working in the area and tweeted to warn the public of the blocked road.

Emergency service vehicles including the ambulance and the police were reported rushing toward the scene earlier this evening.
