The Mini adventure starts here

THE Mini Cooper D (for diesel) is greener' than all of its rivals producing only 118g/km of carbon dioxide emissions, putting it in the mega low band B for road tax (just £35 per year).

After the addition of the D' badge, the car remains pretty much the same - although changes from the first-generation Cooper include a revised suspension set-up with a central-arm rear axle designed to improve handling, six-speed manual gears for all models, better brakes and a redesigned interior.

With a punchy 108bhp and 240Nm of torque, good things definitely come in small packages. And, according to Mini, there's a top speed of 121mph, but I wasn't quite brave enough to put this fact to the test.

Inside, the round dials, large central speedo and retro switches give it a real sense of fun, an important facet for Mini owners.

Safety equipment fitted as standard includes anti-lock brake system, corner braking control, electronic braking distribution and the usual array of airbags.

Every Mini is protected by a warranty, which provides cover for three years unlimited mileage.

In addition, an unlimited mileage, six-year corrosion warranty and a three-year Roadside Assistance package is provided.
