Today I attended the funeral of a much loved friend and neighbour: Sheila Jordan, who passed away quite suddenly over the Christmas period.
Sheila's sons and grandchildren were accompanied by the rest of her family; neighbours; friends; local councillors and members of the various committees in which she was involved.
It was a huge turnout, while the service itself was very thought-provoking. The message seemed to be that today is not supposed to be thinking about the circumstance in which Sheila passed away but about the celebration of her life and the way she lived her life.
Sheila was the chair woman of SAG (Seacombe Area Group) which has vastly improved the lives of local residents in the Seacombe area.. She was also involved in many other youth and community projects and will be sadly missed by everyone. So as I sit and ponder today I will try and not be too sad, but instead celebrate the person she was and the presence she leaves behind. I will still talk to her as will many others as I am a believer that our deceased friends and relatives haven't disappeared for good but are quite nearby and are with us in everything we do. Good Night for now Sheila, from all of us xx
