Whose bright idea was it to prune back the shrubs in Sandlea Park so harshly that only stumps remain? This quiet, green hideaway has been stripped just as most birds are looking for nesting sites. It will take around three years before the bare walls are covered with foliage again. Meanwhile, this restful oasis in West Kirby's traffic-heavy centre has been left without its aura of privacy and seclusion.
This week's Raspberry Award surely has to go to those few people who loudly moan about traffic hold-ups during the Egg Race. Lighten up! It's once a year, for a few hours only! It's for charity and it's fun too. Remember fun? It's that thing you used to smile over before you decided you were too grandiose to enjoy life. *evil chuckles*
