TRANMERE Rovers have teamed up with Wirral Metropolitan College as training partners in a new community project.

The agreement is the latest stage of the club's plan to become a central part of the community.

Students will get valuable work experience at Prenton Park.

Sue Higginson, Principal of Wirral Met College, said: "Wirral Met and Tranmere Rovers Football Club have been part of Wirral’s history for generations and I am delighted that we have forged a strong partnership to engage young people in all aspects of the business of football.

"Both of our organisations are rooted in strong community links and our partnership takes this to another level.

"We are looking forward to the new football season and our playing our part in supporting our local football club".

Rovers' chief executive, Jeremy Butler, said: "Tranmere Rovers are proud to be at the heart of the Wirral community and we are delighted to form this partnership because of the opportunity it gives us to help our local youngsters.

"We know Wirral is full of bright and capable young people and we want them to have the chance to thrive.

"This partnership gives them an opportunity to improve their skills in real life work situations and prepare them for an exciting future when they finish their studies."
